Sketch & Stay with Eamon Colman by Hambly & Hambly

In association with art specialists Hambly & Hambly we invite you to unlock your creativity with an inspiring ‘Sketch & Stay’ getaway at Lough Erne Resort. This unique retreat invites you to delve into your artistic passions and explore your creative potential amidst the stunning landscapes of Lough Erne.
During your painting break, you'll receive expert guidance from the esteemed artist Eamon Colman. You will have the opportunity to learn from Eamon’s extensive experience and benefit from his invaluable guidance. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced artist, Eamon’s teaching approach is tailored to support individuals at all skill levels.
Please find the complete itinerary outlined below:
Friday 6th June 2025
- 10 AM: Arrival & check-in, accompanied by a welcome Tea or Coffee. (Please be advised your guest room will not be guaranteed until 4pm, however you are welcome to use the resort luggage store).
- 11 AM: Join Curator Ciara Hambly from the nearby Hambly & Hambly Art Gallery for a Guided Tour of The Lough Erne Art Collection. Ciara will introduce you to Art Appreciation and the diverse paintings featured at Lough Erne Resort. Following this, you will meet the Artist and Facilitator Eamon Colman, who will discuss his artwork in The Lough Erne Art Collection.
- 1 PM: Delight in a delicious light lunch at the Blaney Bar.
- 2:30 PM - 6 PM: Engage in your first Workshop: Sketching - Interpreting The Lough Erne Landscape. Led by Eamon Colman, this workshop focuses on sketching techniques and utilising figures to achieve perspective.
- You can enjoy the evening at your own leisure (Please be advised no dining is included on this evening).
Saturday 7th June 2025
- Breakfast will be served in Catalina Restaurant from 7.30am (breakfast is included and pre-booking your preferred time is recommended)
- 10 AM - 12 Noon: Participate in Workshop 2: Drawing inspiration from the stunning colours of the Lough Erne landscape. Eamon Colman will introduce you to the handmade milk paints and colors inspired by the resort's grounds.
- 12 Noon: Enjoy a light lunch at the Blaney Bar.
- 1:30 PM - 5 PM: Attend Workshop 3: Colour Application In Paint. You will apply colours outdoors (en plein air), using the milk paints introduced earlier and the perspective sketching skills acquired on Friday.
- 6PM: Resort concierge will transport you to nearby Hambly & Hambly at Dunbar House to enjoy a guided tour of the extensive art collections with a glass of Prosecco or Nosecco
- 8.30PM: You will return to Lough Erne Resort to savor a three-course dinner at the award-winning Catalina Restaurant, with views overlooking Castle Hume Lough.
Sunday 8th June 2025
- Awaken to breakfast which will be served in Catalina Restaurant from 7.30am (breakfast is included and pre-booking your preferred time is recommended)
- 11 AM - 1 PM Enjoy a Sunday morning workshop
- 1PM: Enjoy Sunday Lunch in Catalina Restaurant
- 2:30 PM - 6 PM: This will be your final workshop and the chance to reflect on your painting weekend with Eamon Coleman and attendee’s
During these sessions, each participant will create a take-home painting on canvas. You will derive inspiration from the hotel’s beautiful grounds while working outdoors (en plein air), . Eamon will provide individual guidance as you paint your canvas, allowing you to showcase the skills you have developed throughout the three-day course.
