Dating back almost two-hundred years, this temptingly indulgent tradition of Afternoon Tea, which we have modified to have a festive twist, includes a sumptuous selection of handmade sandwiches and savouries, delicate sweet treats and freshly baked scones, piled high on platters from nearby Belleek Pottery.
Belleek Pottery is located in the village of Belleek in Co. Fermanagh on the banks of the River Erne and has carried out over one hundred and sixty years of craftmanship right here on the island of Ireland, as it Ireland’s oldest working Fine China pottery locations. Established in 1857, Belleek Pottery holds a very special place in Ireland's cultural and commercial heritage and produces more than one hundred thousand pieces of pottery annually. Lough Erne Resort is privileged to work with Belleek Pottery, as they have established a strong relationship which allows the resort to support a local business which has strong roots in Co. Fermanagh and ensures our dishes are served on dishes of the highest of quality.
Relax in the splendour of the Catalina, with its vaulted ceilings, glittering chandeliers and breathtaking views across the Faldo Course and Castle Hume Lough, our three AA Rosette-winning restaurant is where you will sample the decadent seasonal flavours of our Festive Afternoon Tea in a truly elegant setting.
On the day of your Festive Afternoon Tea experience, take in the stunning surroundings that Lough Erne Resort has to offer as you make your way through the resort entrance to our reception area, where are friendly Concierge or Reception Team will be more than happy to direct you the Catalina Restaurant. However, if the excitement of your festive experience has meant you have arrived earlier than your booking, you are more than welcome to relax in our reception area where you can get a sneak preview of the gorgeous views that the resort has to offer.
Once you make your way to the Catalina, our dedicated waiting staff will be on hand to guide you to your table and talk you through what festive selections we have on offer. During this time if you have an allergy or intolerance to any food substance, please inform your server and we will do our utmost to accommodate your request. Kick off your Festive Afternoon Tea with a glass of mulled wine, a Christmas classic, which will set the festive tone for the rest of your Afternoon Tea experience, before moving on to champagne with your nibbles and sweet treats.
Alongside these tipples, we have a selection of over five varieties of tea including Green Tea, Lemon Ginger, Blackcurrant Ginseng and Vanilla Teas which are all unique and have the added benefits of antioxidants which is needed during these winter months to boost the immune system, while also warming the soul with their individual flavour pallets.
We have a selection of assorted finger sandwiches, which our culinary team have created to incorporate key flavours associated with the time of year while ensuring each pairing comes together to produce faithful classics and new innovations. This selection includes; Smoked Irish Salmon with Cream Cheese and Mulled Wine Chutney, Turkey with Cranberry and Pickled Onion Tart, Irish Honey, Clove and Cinnamon Glazed Ham with Whole Grain Mustard and Traditional Egg and Onion.
After indulging in the savoury starter, we have a standout selection of an assortment of pastries and sweets which include Christmas classics such as our sweet Mince Tart. Whilst including some contemporary takes on winter winners which will leave you wanting more, such as our Spiced Carrot and Passionfruit Gateaux, Honey and Clove Butter Cream Coffee Cake and Salted Carmel Stollen. Alongside each of these, we have our very own Lough Erne Chocolate Delice with Cinnamon Shortbread which we are sure will bring your Afternoon Tea experience to a flavoursome finale.
As well as feasting on our finely cut sandwiches and our delicate festive pastries, we have freshly baked scones which take on the festive flavours of orange and clove which are served with home-made Irish fruit preserves and Irish Clotted Cream, which have been combined to make for an unforgettable Christmas Afternoon.
